Let me be honest right off the bat: our life doesn’t follow a typical schedule… and that’s exactly how we like it. We’re not a 6AM, picture-perfect kind of family. We’re more like a late-start, homeschool-hustle, swim-breaks-and-slow-dinners type of crew. And if you’re new here—hi, I’m Kursti! I’m a full-time student, medical mama, business owner, and RV-living laundry warrior just trying to keep it all together (with help from sweet tea and Jesus).
Here’s a real look at what our days actually look like behind the scenes at Breath in Bloom Collective:
10:00 AM-ish:
We usually wake up a little later than most, but that’s by design. My husband works night shifts as a respiratory therapist, so we all adjust to his sleep schedule to keep things peaceful. Once we’re up, the girls (Jentri and Brantleigh) get started on their online homeschool program—Acellus Academy—right from their laptops or tablets. It’s self-paced, so some days they power through 1–2 hours, and other days we skip it entirely in favor of a spring day or spontaneous adventure. That’s one of the biggest blessings of this lifestyle: freedom.
Afternoons:
While the girls knock out school or chill, I’m usually bouncing between cleaning our tiny-but-mighty rig, managing small loads of laundry (because RV washers are adorable and frustrating all at once), and getting in some reading or homework for my college courses. I’m in a fast-paced 7-week term system, taking two classes at a time. It’s intense, but it’s helping me get to my degree quicker—and honestly, I love learning. I take a lot of notes (like… a lot), and I try to squeeze in study time wherever I can.
Somewhere in the mix:
Jentri does 1–2 airway clearance treatments a day with her vest and nebulizer. Those are non-negotiable. They keep her lungs moving and help her feel her best. That’s the thing about raising a medically complex kid—you learn to build your schedule around what really matters.
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM:
This part of the day often looks like swimming, spring hopping (Florida springs are breathtaking), grocery runs, planning mini vacays, going to local festivals and markets or just hanging out. We’re currently stationary at a campsite in Florida, so we’re soaking up every bit of the beauty here. We’re not on the move right now, and that’s been such a needed pause. We are actually thinking of putting roots down here so we shall see how that works out!
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM:
Dinner time starts later in our house, because our nights run long. I try to cook when I can we use the crockpot a lot and the airfryer or hey my husband’s new toy the Blackstone 👌🏻, but sometimes it’s pizza or my personal favorite——mini tacos or whatever gets us through the day. Shoutout to our tiny RV dishwasher, by the way—it may be small, but I’m so thankful for it!
9:00 PM – Midnight (sometimes later):
This is my time. When the rig is quiet, and everyone’s winding down, I finally get to design. I grab my iPad, a notebook, or my laptop and start creating. These late hours are when Breath in Bloom really comes to life. It’s when I can pour my heart into awareness tees, school spirit designs, or fun ideas that popped into my head while folding laundry. If I’m not designing, I’m probably catching up on schoolwork or—you guessed it—taking more notes. 🤓
It’s not always glamorous. Some days I’m overwhelmed and running on fumes. Other days, I feel so grateful I could cry. But every single day, I’m building something—something that brings awareness, supports my family, and reminds me that even in the chaos, I can chase my dreams.
So if you’ve ever wondered what life looks like behind the posts, this is it. Real, raw, a little messy… and full of purpose.
Thanks for being here, cheering me on, and helping this dream grow—one late-night design session at a time.
With love (and probably wearing my bamboo moo moo),
Kursti, Founder of Breath in Bloom Collective
